Musicland Kampground Branson, Missouri Review

Branson Musicland Kampground

My family and I took a trip to the Musicland Kampground in our Class C RV for a 3 day stay to check out what Branson Missouri had to offer. From our location in Illinois it should have been a 7.5 hour drive. Between all the storms and traffic jams we ran into, it took up a little over 10 hours.

Check in Process

We were driving to the Musicland Kampground on a Friday. At around 7PM, I received a call from the campground asking what time I would be arriving. I thought it was  a bit odd as I have never been asked that before. It turns out, the campground office closes at 8PM on Friday night and there may not be anyone at the office to take us to our site. They explained it is a gated campground and you need to check in to get your key card to get into the park and after hours, I would not be able to enter. They do have an over flow lot that it appears only two late night campers can stay in  if they miss the check in. They were very pleasant and asked me to just be safe and do my best to make it as soon as I could and they would try and get someone to stay to process my check in when I got there. We arrived at about 9:30 PM and a young man was there waiting for us and checked us in and guided us to our spot. I am thankful that he stayed and let us check in after such a miserable drive. Upon check in you receive a map, some local attraction brochures, your key card and also a key that opens the rec room and the laundry and a gate that leads to the Branson strip. If you will be arriving later at night, be aware of the actual office hours as Google lists the campground as being open 24 hours.

Amenities

The camp store inside the check in office is small and has some basic necessities. It is nice but pretty scarce in terms of offerings.

On site there is a laundry area with washers and dryers that we did not use. You need a key to get in. This is located near the pool. There is also a game room inside this area.

There is a very small playground and a nice sized pool with some lounging chairs and some tables with umbrellas on a deck overlooking the pool. The pool was clean and was nice enough. The pool hours though are pretty restrictive. On one night I think it was closed by 7 or 8 which was annoying for many families who were just walking up to swim after a long day in the heat.

If you have children, beware there is no “biking, skating, rollerblading, scooters, go karts., Etc. inside the campground. My kids brought bikes and were really bummed out they couldn’t ride them. The campground is quite hilly though, so they would have tired of the hills quickly.

You are not allowed to have a camp fire at this campground. I believe it is because you are so close to city limits being literally right in downtown Branson. This was also a bummer for my family as we enjoy unwinding next to a fire at night and making smores.

The Kampground is in walking distance to several attractions, the closest being the Titanic Museum which is literally right next door. A gas station is very close as well to buy drinks, beer, snacks etc.

Overall impression

Overall, this is a very nice campground for adults who want to use it as a basecamp and to maybe get in a daytime swim, but a bit more limited for children. It is quite, staff was very friendly and helpful and it is clean and well kept. The other campers were respectful and pleasant. The location is amazing and you can actually use a path to cut through a parking lot and access several good local restaurants. I wouldn’t say this would be my choice for a campground to spend several days at with kids if you weren’t planning to leave and do other things during the days as there isn’t much for kids to do here besides swim. But for adults and for families looking to adventure mostly outside of the campground, this may be the perfect spot!
